Testie Tuesday: 1st Tracks!
Hi there!
“First Tracks is a positive, organic movement that is not just about ‘being cool’, it’s about being right.”
–John Russ First Track Member

Being right… that’s tricky.
So few things in this world are universally “right”. The contrast of right and wrong turns shades of grey where rightness meets culture and ethics.
Did you know that most business degrees require a business ethics class prior to graduation? This class is meant to give students an “ethical” approach to business, one where they treat the customer with respect and fairness, while being able to avoid conflict.
That’s it? Customers promote the company and purchase the product, and then you just treat them nicely? How is that “fair”?
You are MORE than a customer. You are a cherished member of our ski community.
We don’t strive to connect with you because it is “cool”; we connect with you because it is the right thing to do. The company IS you.
First Tracks rewards your commitment to skiing and to Icelantic, because your commitment enables us to succeed. With First Tracks, you will be a part of the company, not just a customer.

We made First Tracks to celebrate YOU, because it is the right thing to do!
Don’t miss your chance to get the rewards you deserve: Sign up starts October 6th… http://www.icelanticboards.com/firsttracks
Take your winter to the next level.
–ICELANTIC
P.S. As much as we wish we could give everyone this opportunity, it is limited access and gets filled up quickly! Join us this winter!

30 Days Closer to Winter
Hey there!
This morning I went for a long run in the hot Colorado sun, which concluded with a dive into my favorite swimming hole in Clear Creek (my recommended way to start the day). When I emerged from the brisk snow-melt, I had a thought regarding First Tracks.
After discussing it with the rest of the crew, it’s been decided:
First Tracks Enrollment for 2011-2012 will open on October 6th – one month later than planned and 30 days closer to ski season.
There is a lot of anticipation around this already, so I sincerely apologize if you had already planned on joining us next Thursday, but our reasons for this adjustment are good…. I promise.
A couple days ago, the brilliant crew at Battery 621 (our new office space), along with the Icelantic crew decided to make October’s First Friday a FULL ON Welcome To Winter Three-day extravaganza (more on this to come), but for this purpose, we want October First Friday to also be the first official Welcome Party for First Tracks 2011-2012. Enroll on Thursday – party with us and the rest of the industry on Friday. Perfect.
Additionally, as I’m sure you know, we’re hosting the first annual Icelantic Open Golf Tournament this Saturday at the Evergreen Golf Course, which is completely sold out and we’re getting ready to launch our brand new website on September 1st… SO, to ensure that all runs smoothly and that our energies are where they need to be, October spoke and we listened.
One more thing, which is a pretty major one, Mr. Parr, who’s artistic brilliance graces all of our skis, is having a little girl – Due October 5th! This is the first Icelantic baby and we’re welcoming her with a bang – and a celebration. Bringing new life into this world is pretty exciting…
So mark your calendars for Thursday October 6th 12:00 Midnight Enrollment Opens. – and space is limited.
Also, just so you know, we will be opening it early to the Early Bird List (ah ha!), so if you missed out last year or you’re ultra stoked to see what First Tracks is all about this year, I’d encourage you to put your name on the list here http://www.icelanticboards.com/firsttracks, to be the first in line.
September is almost here and the buyers guides are out – I smell winter…
Thanks again for being so rad,
-Annelise and the Icey Crew
P.S. I recently spoke with one of my friends who is a meteorologist and he informed me that chances are good of a repeat winter – another La Nina! Get ready…….

The Right Moment
The Right Moment
Hey there!
Last night, I read an article that made me think of you – and specifically, of First Tracks. The article is about an innovative and powerful organization called Kairos. Kairos, “The Right Moment” in Greek, was founded by a group of college friends with the intention of affecting the world by bringing together the greatest minds and hearts – sharing each others strengths, connections, energies to work together.
The founders are still in college but are flying all over the world, meeting with kings, Sheiks, executives of some of the worlds most powerful companies, other students – sharing ideas and sparking change. In the interview, the founder comments on how it’s not about the money or the power, but rather the access he gets from bringing groups of people together like this.
Access. Profound.
If there’s anything I love more than thigh deep blower pow, and sunrise sails, it’s people – so when I read articles about people like those in Kairos, my circuits light up and all cylinders begin firing.
First Tracks was born from this concept – bring together a group of people with like minds, similar interests and shared goals – then see what happens.
A huge draw to the first tracks program is the access – exclusive industry events, discounts on skis, apparel, epic adventures, inspired people, it goes on….
The ski industry is sexy and no doubt, people want to get involved.
A recent phenomenon that is starting to grow legs of its own now, however, is the inter-exchange of ideas, services and people with in the First Tracks community. Members are exposing their worlds to other like-minds and doors are opening where no one expected. Very cool things are starting to happen and it’s only just begun.
So, without taking up too much more of your time, I invite you to consider joining First Tracks – as a new venture – an accoutrement to your daily life or an outlet for your creativity. http://www.icelanticboards.com/firsttracks
The community within these tracks is top notch and even if you join just for a discount on skis – I have a feeling that you’ll be surprised by what you get out of it.
Space in First Tracks is limited and enrollment starts September 1, 2011. If you want to ensure yourself a spot, be sure to click here to add your name to the First Tracks First Alert list so that you will be among the first to hear about enrollment details.
We hope you join us on some new Gypsys this season – as we playfully bounce through the secret stashes of life.
Invite your friends along too!
Until Then, enjoy the now

August First Friday
Hi there!
This months First Friday party (August 5th, 2011) will feature artwork by David MacCallum-Price. Below is a short bio:
“Inspired by the sweeping plains of the African Savannah and the dramatic, often surreal landscapes of the American South-West, I strive to create images that are unique, interesting and in part at least, do some justice to the amazing places that over the years it has been my good fortune to call home!”

Born in North Wales, the son of a local wedding photographer, Dave seemed to have had a camera in his hands for as long as he can remember.

After graduating from University, he moved to South Africa and continued the love affair with wildlife photography that began as a teenager during visits to the local Zoo! He then lived in Namibia, California, London and Wales.

His work has been published in both the first and second editions of the Bradt Guidebook to Botswana, and also featured extensively in the Botswana Tourism Handbook and the award winning Expert Africa Travel brochure.

Since relocating to the USA, he has exhibited and been awarded prize ribbons at various different fine arts festivals in Colorado.
As always we’ll have kegs courtesy of TommyKnocker brewery so come on down to Battery 621 this Friday, the 5th of August, for some great art, live music and lots of fun!
Enjoy your week and we hope to see you soon!

1st Annual Icelantic Open
Hi there!
As I write this, I am sitting in a penthouse loft on W. 31st street (in the Big Apple), listening to Ben answer questions from the editor of Teen Vogue.
We’re here because we were invited to display our skis at an exclusive media event – and since Parr had never been to the big city before, we thought it might be a good idea to attend.
Among the gear buzz, I’ve been hearing a lot of talk about a skier’s second favorite summertime activity.
Every person I’ve talked to here has mentioned their latest, greatest golf game – where it was, how it went and who they played with.
Lucky for us, I have some good fodder for these conversations…. That I’m about to let you in on…
INTRODUCING…….
The First Ever (soon to be Annual) Icelantic Open!
This August 27th, 2011 at 8am sharp, a shotgun start will begin the First Annual Icey Open – a not so ordinary Golf Tournament to be held at the beautiful, World Famous Evergreen Golf Course, known around the globe for Elk.
This Tournament will be a shotgun start scramble and will feature prizes and fun contests on every hole with booty from Icelantic, Volcom, Electric, Spyder, Tommyknocker and several more of our favorite companies.
PLUS, there is a $10,000 CASH PRIZE for a HOLE IN ONE! Ace!
We will be accepting 36 teams of 4, and the investment is $90/person or $360/team – not too shabby for the value jam packed in this puppy.
Come August 1, the price will increase.
Here is the link to reserve your spot at the First Annual Icelantic Open, this August 27th at 8am.
http://icelanticboards.com/icelantic-open/
There is an option to reserve a single spot, as well as a foursome.
I have a feeling this will sell out FAST, so if you’re jones’n for that $10,000 Hole in ONE prize, then join us.
We’d LOVE to see you here.
Here’s the link again:

I hope you’re practicing your swing.
- Annelise
P.S. You don’t even have to be a golfer to participate
in this tourney – as long as you enjoy elk, hitting balls
over rocks, winning cool prizes, great people and a beer or two….

Boom! We’re FREE and 15% off…
Hi there!
As many of you know, Ashley, Sam, Ben, Scotty and I all recently returned from an epic two week sailing adventure in the West Indies.
One of the most incredible trips of our lives, hands down.
While we were down there, living the lifestyle that many only dream of, we would often stop, mid-rum punch and awe at the situation that we’ve created for ourselves. Chartering a 43 foot mono-hull amongst some of the most pristine waters in the world, island after island, endless adventures, music, amazing people and non-stop laughter.

We lead a pretty damn good lifestyle, and the thing that blows all of our minds, every single time the conversation arises, is that WE created it.
By doing what we love and do best, we’ve sculpted a lifestyle that, while not rolling in the dough by any means (at least not yet), affords us abundance of opportunities to explore, share and therefore continue to create and live with every action.
Each time I travel – Japan, Brazil, West Indies, even to Austria, and meet other people my age, they are constantly in awe of what I do and the fact that a couple good friends, together, have created this business/brand/lifestyle from scratch, and more than anything, that we have the “Freedom” to do it.
If you’ve traveled internationally, you’ve most likely experienced the difference I’m referring to.
People dream of living in America for nothing else but to take advantage of some of the freedoms we have here.
So maybe you’re thinking that somehow our situation is unique, and that not everybody can do what we’ve done, and you’re right – everyone is different.

But the important thing to remember, as we celebrate the Good Ol’ US of A, is that we really do have the freedom to do what we want.
Even if it’s only in your subconscious, the fact that that liberty is there, and that it’s supported, is what makes this land a pretty nice place to be.
Basically, I would just like to give a big shout out to you – for knowing that you have choices and that you are free – regardless
of what the media or anyone else says.
Freedom of thought is the most valuable asset we have as humans, and though this isn’t unique to Americans, there is a nice support group here for those of us who do decide to color outside the lines.
So Happy 4th of July – and here’s to living a life you love.
And to Fireworks – thank you China.
Enjoy!
-Annelise
P.S. How about an Independence Day Sale!!
From today until Friday, July 8th everything is 15% off in our online store!

America! 1st Friday Party
Hey there and Happy Summer!
This Monday, Ashley, Dustin, Chris, Kelly from Spyder and I sat around one of the circular tables in the common area of 621, brainstorming on how we can make this First Friday one to remember.
Bottle rockets, red, white and blue snow cones, patriot whistles and hot dogs were all ideas thrown around, but none tickled our fancy until….
I’m not going to reveal what we found, but I’ll tell you this: It blows patriot whistles and franks out of the water.
I’ll also tell you that may or may not involve a bounce, some water, possibly a slide and most likely some photos.
And it will definitely cool you off.
Additionally, we will be serving delicious icey refreshments, courtesy of Tommyknocker Brewery, will have jamin’ live music, and will display art by the talented Mr. Boucher (http://www.phivekvisuals.com/).

And on top of all of this, we will be giving away prizes to those of you who come dressed in the most creative “American” costume.
Whatever you think that is – wait until you see what Ashley is wearing…
So grab your partners, friends, kids, neighbors and head to Batter 621 (621 Kalamath St. Denver, CO 80204) for an evening of entertainment, art, creativity and great people.
Fun normally starts around 6pm and goes until 11pm.
If you haven’t checked out our new space yet, we’d LOVE to see you here and show you around.

Come check it out if you haven't yet!
Enjoy the rest of your week and we look forward to seeing you soon!
Stay Cool,
Annelise

More info on Clancy can be found here.
